MATH SUPERSTARS is a program designed to enhance your child’s journey through mathematics. IT IS A VOLUNTARY program designed for kindergarten through fifth grade.
How does it work?
First, parents and students are asked to sign and return a Math Superstars permission form. This can be turned in with the first assignment. Next, find the appropriate grade level worksheets below. Students then print and complete worksheets at home and turn them in to their teachers by the assigned deadline. Worksheets turned in by the due date will be graded and returned to the student.
How many worksheets must be completed?
Students must complete 12 out of the 15 worksheets and turn them in on time. Those who meet these requirements will be invited to a celebration at the end of the program, and they will be awarded prizes for their participation. This will be a fun and exciting way for students to use their math skills!
What do parents do?
Parents’ role in Math Superstars is to encourage and facilitate your child’s problem-solving skills. Please feel free to make suggestions on strategy for solving each problem, but please do not give answers. Worksheets get progressively more difficult each week. Remind your child that he or she is not
expected to know the answer to every problem. Your goal is to help build strategies for solving problems, not get them all correct. Also, please be sure your student includes first name, last name, and homeroom teacher‘s name on the worksheet to receive credit!!
Are papers graded?
Yes! Volunteers will check the worksheets and they will be returned to your child.
