Cubs Math Superstars Print E-mail

superstarsThe CUBS SUPERSTAR MATH is a supplemental math program for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.

This is a VOLUNTARY program that offers fun, yet challenging math problems to promote critical thinking and reinforce skills taught in the math classroom. Students can download the work problems here on the website and turn their completed work into their Math teachers on Fridays. The student's work will be corrected by the Math Enrichment Committee and returned to them the following week. Students will receive points for correct answers each week they participate and at the end of the program, they can earn a small prize depending upon how many points they earn. This is a 20 week program that will conclude with a party for participants in the Spring.

We have made a slight change to the Math Superstars schedule for this year. The deadline for the first three worksheets has been extended until November 11, 2011. We also added the due dates next to each week’s worksheet so there would not be any confusion when things are due. You can only turn in one sheet per week as the original directions said EXCEPT during the first few weeks up to November 11. We made this change because it was discovered that there was a different start date, November 1, on the website which was left from last year. The program was meant to start October 15. Some students who joined the program did not turn in the first weeks worksheet because of this error. We feel that extending the due dates is the fairest way to give everyone enough time to get caught up and still keep the program twenty weeks long as planned. Remember that you only have to complete 16/20 worksheets to qualify for the end of program celebration so skipping any of the first three weeks is another option you have if that is what you choose.

In order for your child to participate, he or she will need to turn in to their Math teacher a parent permission form - the forms were sent home with the students, but you may also download one here.
